Nutrients Involved in Heart

Last updated: August 9, 2026

5 nutrients Tavita's library ties to heart, framed as support for normal function — never as a treatment, prevention, or cure.

This grouping is Tavita's own editorial reading of NIH Office of Dietary Supplements fact sheets — it isn't a transcription of a single published table. The established or emerging label next to each nutrient reflects the strength of the evidence behind it, not a guarantee of an effect for you. See the methodology page for how the library is built and verified.

This is educational information, not medical advice. Talk to your clinician before changing your supplement routine, especially if you take medication or manage a condition.

How to read the evidence tier

Established

Human trials support this nutrient moving this system for a typical person, not just a lab or animal mechanism.

Emerging

A plausible mechanism with mixed, preliminary, or limited-population evidence — often shown mainly in people who were already deficient.

Nutrients involved in heart

  • Fiber Established

Your heart beats around a hundred thousand times a day, and these nutrients support the rhythm and the healthy blood flow behind it. They help your body maintain circulation you don't have to think about.

  • Magnesium Emerging

Your heart beats around a hundred thousand times a day, and these nutrients support the rhythm and the healthy blood flow behind it. They help your body maintain circulation you don't have to think about.

  • Omega-3 DHA Established

Your heart beats around a hundred thousand times a day, and these nutrients support the rhythm and the healthy blood flow behind it. They help your body maintain circulation you don't have to think about.

  • Omega-3 EPA Established

Your heart beats around a hundred thousand times a day, and these nutrients support the rhythm and the healthy blood flow behind it. They help your body maintain circulation you don't have to think about.

  • Potassium Established

Your heart beats around a hundred thousand times a day, and these nutrients support the rhythm and the healthy blood flow behind it. They help your body maintain circulation you don't have to think about.

Caution: Potassium has no established upper limit for healthy adults because healthy kidneys clear the excess — so there is no ceiling line on this screen. That safety margin does not hold for everyone. If you have reduced kidney function, or take an ACE inhibitor, an ARB, or a potassium-sparing diuretic such as spironolactone, extra potassium can build up quickly and with few warning signs. Salt substitutes are usually potassium chloride and count too. Check with your clinician before adding a potassium supplement.
