Tavita

Our story

Built by a patient who can't afford guesswork

Most health apps are built by teams imagining what patients need. Tavita is built by someone whose next lab result depends on getting it right.

Illustration of a man carefully examining a supplement bottle through a magnifying glassHi, I'm Marquis. I live with stage-5 chronic kidney disease. I've had two kidney transplants — each gave me eight good years — and today I'm on dialysis. My days are built around medications and supplements, so whether they actually work isn't a curiosity for me. It shows up in my blood work every month.

I've also always been the person who checks everything. Before moving somewhere new, I pull the flood and landslide records for the area. Before buying a second-hand car, I check the flood map of the seller's neighborhood to make sure it never sat in water. That's not a habit I picked up to build an app — it's who I've been all my life.

Tavita is that same obsession with detail, pointed at the thing that matters most.

I build it under Tavita OPC, the company I registered to bring it to you and stand behind it.

Why it exists

The question I kept hearing

“Why isn't my iron rising? I take my supplement every day.”

In my dialysis support groups, that question comes up again and again. And every time, I want to ask: are you taking it with your coffee? With your calcium? With a medicine that blocks it? Others quietly add herbal supplements on top of their maintenance meds, never suspecting the combination could work against them.

Not every problem is a timing problem. But the ones that are, are completely avoidable — and nobody should lose months of progress to something a smarter schedule could have caught.

What I did about it

So I built the app I needed

Timed for absorption

Tavita schedules each supplement and medicine around what blocks what — food, coffee, minerals, other pills — so every dose gets its best chance to work.

Flags what shouldn't mix

Risky combinations are flagged in plain language, so you can bring them to your doctor or pharmacist — instead of finding out from a lab result.

Tested on its toughest user

I take more pills in a day than most people take in a week. Every feature ships because it survived my own routine first.

Where you stand

What I promise you

Your care team has the final word

Tavita will never pretend to be your doctor. It organizes what you already take and surfaces what's worth asking about — nothing more, and nothing less.

Your health data lives on your phone

No account required, no ads, no selling data. AI features send only what they need — a meal photo, your supplement names — and store none of it. I wouldn't accept less for my own medical history, so it's what you get too.

Built for patients everywhere

If Tavita helps even a fraction of the people asking why their supplements aren't working, it will have done its job. That's the whole mission.

The name

Why “Tavita”

Illustration of a small shepherd boy David slinging a stone toward the towering giant Goliath

Tavita is the Samoan form of the Biblical name David — the shepherd king whose name means beloved in Hebrew, and a name Pacific Island families often give to mean gift of God. In Samoa, a name is never just a label. It carries the hopes of the people who give it.

I didn't have to search long for why that meaning fits. I've been given the gift of life twice — once with each kidney. I won't pretend I looked after those years perfectly; most of what Tavita does is what I wish I'd been doing all along. So I'm passing the gift on instead — carefully, gratefully, one well-timed dose at a time.
